Cold neutron facilities

Cold Neutron Research Facility (CNRF)
  • Constructed from 2005 until 2010
  • Composed of neutron scattering instruments using cold neutron of HANARO
  • Korea’s landmark research infrastructure boasting unparalleled competence in studies of nano-structures and dynamics by means of neutrons with long wavelengths

Scope of Usage

  • Basic science studies of nano-structure materials and low-energy dynamics
  • Development of source technologies for nano-materials used in R&D of electronics components, computer chips, flat panel displays (FPD), etc.
  • Development of drug delivery agents for treatment of obstinate diseases
  • Development of cutting-edge analysis technologies for investigating nano-bio structures

Cold Neutron Beam Instruments

  • 40m Small Angle Neutron Scattering Instrument (40M-SANS)
  • 18m Small Angle Neutron Scattering Instrument (18M-SANS)
  • KIST Ultra-Small Angle Neutron Scattering (KIST-USANS)
  • Disk Chopper Time-of-Flight Spectrometer (DC-TOF)
  • Cold Neutron Triple-Axis Spectrometer (Cold-TAS)
  • Vertical Neutron Reflectometer (REF-V)
  • Bio-Reflectometer (Bio-REF)
  • Guide Test Station (G-TS)
