Cold Neutron Triple-Axis Spectrometer
Cold Neutron Triple-Axis SpectrometerCold-TAS Cold Neutron Triple-Axis Spectrometer
- The triple-axis spectrometer (TAS) is a kind of inelastic scattering instrument, which investigates the motions inside the material, or so-called the dynamics of the material, by measuring changes in energy and momentum simultaneously in the scattering process. This instrument uses a monochromator and an analyzer, which determine the energy and momentum of incident and scattering neutron beams, respectively. Both the monochromator and the analyzer can rotate around an axes that lie vertically on the scattering surface, and a sample can also rotate around its axis that lies in parallel with the axes on the scattering surface. The name of this instrument—triple-axis spectrometer—refers to these three axes. The cold neutron triple-axis spectrometer (Cold TAS) in the Guide Hall of HANARO is suitable for measuring the low-energy magnetic dynamics and atomic dynamics of materials.
